Product information

At ClosetMaid, we offer two fixing types which both have their individual benefits to be utilised depending on your requirements.

Fixed Mount - This is our standard fixing method, and we recommend this for anyone keen to stick to a specific budget, or for any enclosure where you're not anticipating a particularly heavy load, or won't see the need to amend the layout in the future.

So, spaces like:
- Adult wardrobes/ walk in wardrobes
- Linen cupboards
- Spare wardrobes
- Cloaks cupboard

Fixed Mount shelving requires fixing to the rear wall of your space/ enclosure, and will also mount to any side walls that you have available, for a more bespoke fit.
When using our wire shelving with Fixed Mount hardware, the system will support up to 15kg of weight per 30cm of linear shelf. So, for a 1.2m wide shelf, you will be able to support up to 60kg of clothing/ linens/ accessories etc. This of course is only achieved when installing the system into a sound wall, as per the manufacturers guidelines.

ShelfTrack - This is our upgraded, adjustable fixing method. We recommend this system for anyone who is looking for a quick installation process, or for heavy duty applications, or any space that may get changed over time.

So, spaces like:
- Children's/ Teen wardrobes
- Pantries/ Larders
- Garage storage
- Laundry rooms
- Temporary storage which may be repurposed in time

ShelfTrack shelving only mounts to the rear wall of your space/ enclosure, so it is useful in areas of the home that you only have one wall to mount to, or perhaps you have a solid rear wall, but the side walls are stud or have pipework or cabling inside the wall and you may prefer not to fix to them.
When using our wire shelving with ShelfTrack hardware, the system will support up to 30kg of weight per 30cm of linear shelf. So, for a 1.2m wide shelf, your will be able to support up to 120kg of clothing/ linens/ accessories/ laundry/ tools etc. This of course is only achieved when installing the system into a sound wall, as per the manufacturers guidelines.
ShelfTrack is also easily adjustable post installation. Vertical wall standards mount to the wall with multiple slots along the length of these standards, enabling you to reposition your shelves/ accessories whenever you wish, also allowing you to add to or takeaway from the system whenever your needs change.

Take a look at our images to see the differences in our hardware. Note that both images show our SuperSlide shelving. Fixed Mount hardware can also be used with our Shelf & Rod style of shelving, but is not generally recommended for use with ShelfTrack.

If you still have questions, do let us know and one of our team would be happy to talk you through our installation information.
